Inside Bitcoins Exclusive Interview

Stewart Quealy

What inspired you to start Inside Bitcoins?

As the world’s most popular decentralized digital currency, Bitcoin is an intriguing topic that sparks spirited discussion and debate which is ideal fodder for a conference environment.  At MecklerMedia (OTCQX: MECK), we take a progressive approach toward content and tend to gravitate toward dynamic topics that represent next generation trends and opportunities.  It’s been said that right now Bitcoin feels like the Internet before the browser, and I’m inclined to agree.

I’ve seen that you’ve had a show at Las Vegas. Have you had other shows? Do you visit places all over the world? What’s the average number of visitors, merchants, and speakers who come to these shows?

MecklerMedia hosts 25 trade shows annually with a combined audience of over 50,000 professionals. Our Inside Bitcoins events in particular attract a diverse audience and take place across the globe in locations such as London, Berlin, Paris, Seoul, Hong Kong, New York, Singapore, and Tel Aviv.

Our second Inside Bitcoins show in NYC, which took place in April, pulled in over 2K delegates from over fifteen countries, and we expect it to double in attendance next year. At Inside Bitcoins Vegas in October, we’ll have more than 40 exhibitors on the expo floor.

Who will be speaking at your London show and who is their target audience?

Our London event is expected to be the largest virtual currency conference in Europe to date. It’s taking place at the Grange St. Pauls Hotel (on the doorstep of the City of London) so the location could not be more perfect! Industry experts, influencers, authors, and practitioners who will be sharing analysis on the current and future state of Bitcoin include Gavin Wood, CTO, Ethereum; Steve Waterhouse, Partner, Pantera Capital; Hakim Mamoni, Co-Founder and CTO, Seedcoin; Nicolas Cary, CEO, Blockchain.info; Will O’Brien, CEO & Co-Founder, BitGo; Lukas Gilkey, President, Cloudhashing; Chris Odom, Co-Founder, Monetas; Nick Lambert, Chief Operating Officer, MaidSafe; Eric Benz, Director, UK Digital Currency Association, and many more.

Our program is designed to span the entire spectrum of international issues and emerging challenges inherent to Bitcoin so attendees will walk away with plenty of new ideas that are relevant to everyone on their team. Keynotes, panels, round table discussions, and deep-dive presentations on [multi]-signature wallets, industrial mining, decentralized apps, compliance, investing, security, Altcoins, remittance, exchanges, POS solutions, Bitcoin 2.0, and Blockchain technology are all part of what’s covered.

What can visitors expect when they come to Inside Bitcoins at London? Where will people park?

London has become a hub for fast-growing startups and disruptive innovation so investors from both sides of the Atlantic will be paying close attention what happens at Inside Bitcoins. With a multitude of topics on tap, this is also a rare opportunity to rub shoulders and network with some of the brightest minds in FinTech, banking, e-commerce and next generation payments. Whether you’re a venture capitalist, lawyer, technologist, entrepreneur, regulator, cryptographer or public policy expert, our London agenda offers valuable insight for everyone and anyone interested in learning more about a digital, decentralized, peer-to-peer-based currency like Bitcoin. Visitors can also expect a buzzing expo floor as our rapidly expanding list of confirmed sponsors and exhibitors include Butterfly Labs, btc.sx, CoinSimple, Cryptopay, Jumio, meXBT, Seedcoin, CoinTerra, UnoCoin, among others.

On-street car parking is not available at the Grange St Paul’s, but plenty of local car parking spaces can be found nearby at Baynard House Car Park, on 135 Queen Victoria Street, EC4V 5BQ.  Parking is available there 24 hours a day on Sunday-Friday. Please telephone 020 7329 6520 for rates.
