If Trump Repeals Obamacare, He Owes US Taxpayers a $2 Trillion Refund

By CCN.com: President Donald Trump’s Justice Department recently recommended that a federal appeals court strike down all of Obamacare. A petition has been filed with the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. If Trump (finally) succeeds in repealing the disastrous legislation, he owes taxpayers a $2 trillion refund.
The renewed assault on Barack Obama’s signature legislative victory represents a major change for Trump’s administration. Originally, the president repealed the mandate that required individuals who didn’t obtain health insurance to pay a tax penalty at the end of each year. He later said he’d consider keeping certain sections of the Obamacare program active. Among those sections were protections for individuals with pre-existing conditions .
Last December, a district court ruled that without the mandate , Obamacare was unconstitutional. The case is now in the hands of the appeals court.
Obamacare: The Most Expensive Joke in U.S. History
Obamacare, by the numbers, has been a complete and utter failure.
The notion that many Americans either didn’t have health insurance or were barred from applicable plans helped justify the program’s creation.
However, its phony-bologna attitude of protecting sick Americans couldn’t hide the fact that Obamacare is socialized medicine and fundamentally anti-American in nature. Regardless of the program’s ideals, forcing people to purchase health insurance invalidates their freedoms, choices, and abilities to govern their own lives.
But Obamacare also promised health plans at lower prices. While this was good for individuals at first, it destroyed insurance providers’ competitiveness, harming both businesses and innovation – two staples of American capitalism. As time went on, these prices had no choice but to spike and make up for the losses of previous years. Obamacare premiums began rising heavily in 2016, resulting in considerably higher costs to Americans for the exact same plans.
Don’t forget that the Obamacare website’s infamous struggles cost taxpayers a staggering $840 million .
Lastly, the program illegally diverted billions of dollars away from the U.S. Treasury and failed to recognize counterfeit applications and documents. Many subsidies were provided to those who did not meet initial requirements.
Hey Trump, Where’s Our $2 Trillion Refund?
A new report estimates that, altogether, Obamacare will have cost Americans more than $2 trillion by the end of 2024 – granted it stays in place.
When Trump finally sends it to history’s trash heap, he owes us a refund. Individuals have spent a fortune on a healthcare system that has ultimately failed them. They have lost tax refund money and have seen their would-be wealth eaten by a program that worked against their interests.
So it’s great that Trump wants to stop Obamacare from bleeding our bank accounts dry. But U.S. taxpayers must demand that his government repay us for the trillions it has already pilfered.
