GoCoin announced a partnership with Apriva, a major payment processor, to enable Bitcoin payments for Apriva’s more than 1,000 clients.

International altcoin and Bitcoin payment processor GoCoin has formed a new partnership with Apriva, a major point-of-sale payment processing solutions company, to bring altcoin and Bitcoin payment options to Apriva’s more than 1,000 channel partners.

GoCoin Partnership Brings Altcoin and Bitcoin Payment Option to More than 1,000 Companies

Merchant acceptance is vital for the long-term growth of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. GoCoin is one of several prominent companies who hope to facilitate mass Bitcoin acceptance among merchants. The company, whose clients include online retailers such as eGifter and BitcoinShop, processes Bitcoin payments for a 1% fee.

Today, GoCoin announced a partnership with Apriva, a leading provider of secure end-to-end wireless transaction and information solutions that will enable Apriva’s more than 1,000 channel partners to accept altcoin and Bitcoin payments. The GoCoin-Apriva partnership will not immediately bring altcoin and Bitcoin payments to those companies, but it does reduce the friction necessary to accomplish increased merchant acceptance.

GoCoin CEO Steve Beauregard explained that partnering with Apriva will enable them to offer altcoin and Bitcoin payments to a wide variety of companies who may never have considered accepting cryptocurrency as a payment option.

As the payments industry evolves, we want to empower merchants by giving their consumers the option to use the latest payment forms for their purchases. Our partnership will enable Apriva’s resellers and ISVs to provide their merchants the most comprehensive selection of payment options offered today.

Apriva CEO Chris Spinella says the choice to partner with GoCoin was a natural result of increased consumer demand. By adding cryptocurrency support, Apriva believes they will set themselves apart from other payment processing solutions providers.

Digital currencies are another driver of change within the payments industry and quickly gaining in interest from consumers. Our customers rely on us to be at the forefront of innovation so they can differentiate themselves and take advantage of new opportunities to meet their consumer needs. GoCoin’s technology platform is an ideal complement to the Apriva Gateway, providing us with the ability to support current digital currencies, and emerging currencies as well.

The partnership should lend credibility to cryptocurrency in the eyes of merchants. While Apriva product users may not be familiar with Bitcoin or GoCoin, the fact that an established company such as Apriva now supports cryptocurrency payments should convince merchants they should consider adding a Bitcoin payment option.

Making Altcoin Payments Mainstream

One significant feature of the GoCoin-Apriva partnership is the opportunity it gives altcoin communities to purchase products using their coin of choice. Unlike other major Bitcoin payment processors such as BitPay and Coinbase, GoCoin supports both Dogecoin and Litecoin payments. Consequently, the partnership will greatly expand not only Bitcoin payment acceptance among merchants, but also the ability of leading altcoins to gain merchant acceptance.

The GoCoin announcement should be welcomed in both the Litecoin and Dogecoin communities. Both coin’s market caps have fallen in recent months, and widespread merchant acceptance will go a long way to cementing their place among the top cryptocurrencies.
