  • Dan Harmon faced a massive wave of cancel calls last month.
  • People were outraged over a parody sketch he made over ten years ago.
  • His flagship show, Rick and Morty just landed a fun new partnership with Pringles, proving that the cancel mob has not swayed some companies.

People wanted to see Dan Harmon burn in August. It’s September now, and everything is burning.

But the Rick and Morty creator remains standing, as he should. And he has an unlikely corporate sponsor in the famous potato chip company, Pringles.

Rick & Morty Lands a New Project for Fans to Snack on

Earlier this year, Rick & Morty collaborated with Pringles to give us Pickle Rick. If you’re trained in the art of guessing, you might’ve predicted that it was indeed, pickle-flavored.

Those chips are back, and despite the legions of outraged Twitter trolls, Pringles is tripling down with two new flavors. Pickle Rick will now be flanked by Honey Mustard Morty and Look at Me! I’m Cheddar & Sour Cream.

According to the chip company, people have been stacking different flavors of Pringles together to create new, fun flavors. It’s almost too exciting.

Pringles’ senior director of marketing agreed:

The Pringles brand prides itself on pushing fans to find new, creative ways to unlock endless dimensions of flavor. Paired with the standout hit, Pringles Pickle Rick crisps, these snackable, stackable crunchy treats are an absolute must-have for fans.

But thanks to the Dan Harmon drama, new flavors aren’t the only way Pringles is “pushing fans.”

Dan Harmon Rightfully Survives Cancel Calls

If you missed the controversy, people wanted Dan Harmon canceled because of an admittedly disgusting sketch he made in 2009. It was a parody of Dexter, a show about a serial killer who kills serial killers.

Harmon’s absurd, and gross, take was a man who travels back in time and sexually assaults serial killers when they’re children.

He’s issued a lengthy apology, but Twitter users, ever-thirsty for their coveted outrage, didn’t care. They also didn’t care that it was clearly an absurd parody.

They literally thought that Dan Harmon wanted to do the things he depicted in the sketch, proving that 2020 has irrefutably lost its sense of humor.

But the fact that Harmon managed to survive cancel calls proves there’s still hope.

Thanks, Pringles.
