Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Multiplayer Video Shows More Substance Than Any Call of Duty Game in Years

Many gamers have already witnessed the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare multiplayer footage that emerged mid-July. However, the official Call of Duty Twitter page has premiered Modern Warfare multiplayer gameplay that shows off some substantive material.
In what amounted to a nearly three-minute preview, a video was posted to the game’s official Twitter page that sheds light on many of the features Call of Duty veterans and newcomers will be able to learn and use come the game’s October 25 release date.
Return to Call of Duty form
The footage may be short, but it is full of content that represents a developer unyielding at work to deliver one of the most intense Call of Duty experiences in years. The preview begins with a few British soldiers infiltrating Azhir Cave, presenting viewers with both cinematic angles and the perspective of the player.
Players will apparently be using stealth at times during missions such as the one demonstrated at the beginning of this preview. Although, when appropriate in Call of Duty fashion, players will trade stealth for full-blown firefights.
The rest of the preview shows tidbits of similar footage. However, the following footage is more disjointed in order to provide a broader sense of the diverse mechanics to be featured in the game. For example, one part of the preview that was highlighted on Call of Duty’s official Twitter page was that of one of the game’s killstreaks, though this one wasn’t exactly the killstreak that requires players to commit a war crime in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. Rather, it is known as the Juggernaut killstreak, which sees players in armored suits that provide players with a copious amount of defense against incoming firepower and enables players to carry the insanely heavy minigun.
A new, but old, direction
Clips like these show that Infinity Ward is intent on giving players the type of experience that they had witnessed over a decade ago, back in 2007. The Call of Duty series has since lost any sense of believability. This has conveniently provided room for more creative gameplay mechanics. Yet, the sense of relative immersion provided by the Modern Warfare series has dissolved.
There is a lot to look forward to with this Fall release. As indicated previously, this series has lost its direction, and it seems as though Infinity Ward is looking to provide that for the franchise going forward. In any regard, we will know for sure come late October.
