  • United States Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez reveals her progress in League of Legends.
  • The politician is now Silver IV in ranked.
  • Ocasio-Cortez had been ranked Bronze V in 2018.

In a post to her Instagram Stories, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the United States Representative, celebrated her new ranking in League of Legends . The politician is now ranked Silver IV in the popular MOBA. In an October 2018 tweet, Ocasio-Cortez revealed that she was ranked Bronze V  and that she hadn’t touched her League of Legends campaign since before her 2018 political campaign had begun.

Ocasio-Cortez’s new League of Legends ranking has been met with huge praise from players of the game, which has set esports viewership records around the world. In a post on Reddit, one user called the ranking “pretty impressive, given how little time she has to play”  and joked that “she’s climbing the ladder faster than many of us.”

Some Reddit users also joked that League of Legends could be part of a new debate format  for politicians like Ocasio-Cortez. One user wrote that “We had boxing matches between celebrities/politicians, can we already get some LoL dog fights between teams?” The League of Legends map is colored red and blue, like the colors used for political tracking so it would work well.

Politicians can also stream these League of Legends matches. United States Senator and 2020 Presidential candidate Bernie Sanders has a Twitch account  and President Donald Trump has just started a Twitch account too . Voters may be used to televised debates but League of Legends matches would be far more entertaining and may help politicians to get the Millenial vote that they’re all looking for.
