AirbnbAirbnb , the San Francisco-based website that helps connect hosts and guests for lodging across 192 countries, announced on their blog that they will host a Tech Talk  this Wednesday on Bitcoin technology and the blockchain with guest speaker Adrian Macneil, the Director of Engineering at Coinbase.

From their blog, they explain what the evening will consist of:

“In this talk, Adrian will take a deep dive into the blockchain, and look at how transactions are generated and broadcast in a completely trustless peer-to-peer network. He will discuss what role miners play in this network, and whether the blockchain network could exist independent of the Bitcoin currency. Finally, he will look at some of the potential future applications of Bitcoin and the blockchain, including sidechains and decentralized asset tracking.”

Airbnb and Bitcoin Integration

Airbnb and Bitcoin integration has been a big topic ever since earlier this year when PayPal announced integrating Bitcoin through their Braintree payments processor which facilitates payments for companies like Uber, GitHub and Airbnb.

Brian Armstrong, former software engineer for Airbnb Inc. is actually a co-founder of Coinbase. With co-founder Fred Ehrsam, they told CCN.com about their mission to bring Bitcoin to the masses. The enthusiasm in these bright, young start-ups is incredible.

The event will be at Airbnb’s Headquarters  at 888 Brannan St. in San Francisco and if you’d like to attend, you must RSVP ahead of time here, and check-in before 6:45pm in time for the talk which will begin promptly at 7pm.
